Millennium Estoril Open guarantees world tennis sensation

The most promising young player in our days is the first name unveiled for the fifth edition of the biggest Portuguese tennis event. The organization of the Millennium Estoril Open, 3Love, is pleased to announce that one of the most spectacular tennis players in the men's professional circuit will compete in the only national event on the ATP Tour calendar: Stefanos Tsitsipas, the best Greek tennis player of all time and also one of the most popular nowadays, due to the classic style and charismatic personality.

"I look forward to returning to the Millennium Estoril Open in 2019. The tournament has a very special atmosphere and both the fans and the organization make me feel at home. Last year's experience was extraordinary and I hope to have an even better result this year", Stefanos Tsitsipas said.

It will be the return of the 20-year-old tennis player to Clube de Ténis do Estoril with a new status after having been one of the favorites of the Portuguese public and having reached the semi-finals last May. "We are pleased to announce Stefanos Tsitsipas as the first star of the next edition of our tournament. We have closely followed the evolution of Stefanos and his presence in 2018, when it was still unknown to most people, was a good bet, since he has conquered the crowds wherever he plays, with his technique and unique charisma," says João Zilhão, director of the Millennium Estoril Open. "In 2018, even worn out by the ATP 500 final in Barcelona the Sunday before, he gave up all he had and only lost in the tie-break of the third set of his spectacular semi-final with João Sousa. But he did more than that: he seduced the public with the aesthetics of his tennis and the beauty of his one-handed backhand, as well as showing a captivating personality. He finished his best season ever with titles at ATP 250 in Stockholm and at ATP NextGen Finals, and it is legitimate to think that we will see him at the Clube de Ténis do Estoril already as a member of the top 10. At 20 years only, his margin of progression is huge."
