Happy comeback: João Sousa again in the doubles quarter-finals
Alongside Leonardo Mayer, the portuguese player got the triumph in his return to Estádio Millennium.
A year after becoming champion in the singles variant of Millennium Estoril Open, João Sousa has reasons to smile again: in the last match of the day, once again alongside Leonardo Mayer, he gained access to the doubles quarter-finals.
The portuguese and the argentine have a say in the defending of their third seed status, and overcame such a dangerous obstacle as the mexican Santiago Gonzalez and the pakistani Aisam-Ull-Haq Qureshi, in straight sets: 6-4 and 6-4.
The luso-argentinean duo will now be seeking his second consecutive semis at Millennium Estoril Open. In order to do that, Sousa and Mayer will have to beat the brits Luke Bambridge and Jonny O'Mara, both responsible for the big surprise of this first round, after defeating Dusan Lajovic and Nestor Zimonjic 5-7, 6-0 and 10-3.
