Carreño Busta and Del Potro take on the dirt challenge by Peugeot
Pablo Carreño Busta and Juan Martin Del Potro accepted the challenge by Peugeot and this monday took to the hills of Malveira da Serra for a hair-raising, all-terrain adventure in a different kind of clay.
The Spaniard, first seed and runner up in the 2016 edition, and the 28 year old Argentinian, a former two time champion on Portuguese soil, found themselves behind the wheel of two of Peugeot’s new SUV models in the steep trails of the mountainous region in the vicinity of Sintra – on of Portugal’s most visited attractions.
“It was a little bit dangerous but the views were spectacular! It reminded me of my home back in Tandil. It’s great to do this sort of activities and not just play tennis all the time”, said Del Potro
In the company of João Zilhão, Millennium Estoril Open director, both players were able to enjoy the spectacular views and put their driving skills to the test from Guincho to the mesmerizing Palácio da Pena.
Carreño Busta, who is looking to improve on his runner up result from last year, will start his campaign in the Portuguese ATP250 against compatriot Tommy Robredo. Del Potro, two times champion in Jamor back in 2011 and 2012, will make his debut this Tuesday as he will face Japanese Yuichi Sugita, who arrived in Portugal after an impressive week in Barcelona, where he reached the quarter-finals (lost to Thiem).
