Almagro and Garcia-López qualify for doubles semi-final
Nicolas Almagro and Guillermo Garcia-López are through to the doubles semi-finals in Millennium Estoril Open.
The Spanish duo knocked out Indian Leander Paes and Brazilian André Sá 7-6(2), 4-6, 10-8, in one hour and 38 minutes to advance in the portuguese ATP250.
Paes and Sá, two very experienced doubles players, came to Estoril as fourth seeds but couldn’t prevail over their clay specialist’s rivals.
While 2016 singles champion Almagro is still in contention to defend his crown in the singles draw, Garcia-López is now 100% focused on the doubles as he was eliminated earlier in the week by American Ryan Harrison, in his debut in round one of the singles main draw.
Almagro and Garcia-López will now face compatriots David Marrero and Tommy Robredo in an all-spanish semi-final.
