MILLENNIUM ESTORIL OPEN ANNOUNCES FIRST TOP 5 OF IT'S HISTORY
Kevin Anderson is the current Wimbledon runner-up
Kevin Anderson is the third name announced for the fifth edition of the Millennium Estoril Open - to be held between 27th April and 5th May at the Clube de Ténis do Estoril. The South African veteran joins the already announced youngsters Stefanos Tsitsipas (Most Improved Player of 2018 and semifinalist at the recent Australian Open) and Alex de Minaur ('Newcomer of The Year' in 2018 and recent champion in Sydney) with a very special detail: in the latest ranking released by the ATP Tour, all three occupy the best rankings ever in their careers.
"Estoril and Cascais are clearly two of my favorite places on the ATP Tour and I cannot wait to return to play the tournament again," said Kevin Anderson in a message sent to João Zilhão, director of the Millennium Estoril Open. "The fans are very enthusiastic and I especially like the food. There is nothing better than a good seafood dish and a glass of wine on a Portuguese beach..." he added.
"After announcing two new-generation stars who discussed the NextGen final of the ATP Tour in 2018, we now present the name of an experienced player who has cemented his position in the world tennis elite and who, this week, appears in the top five of the hierarchy. Kevin Anderson has already played two Grand Slam tournament finals and reached the last four in ATP Finals debut," says Zilhão. "It is always a guarantee of quality in any kind of surface, having even perform in two of the best matches in the short history of our tournament, facing Richard Gasquet and João Domingues."
